HoningOur History
Owner Ron Smith started Southern Performance Automotive Machine in 1972 in Orlando, Florida. The business started out of a passion for drag racing. Ron is a master mechanic and is a graduate of Mid-Florida Tech specializing in auto machining. Ron relocated in 2005 and opened shop in Enterprise, Alabama. Some of his customers from Florida continued to request Ron to do work for them. Once set up in Enterprise, customers came from Enterprise, Andalusia, Montgomery area, Dothan, Donalsonville, Marianna and throughout the Wiregrass area.
Southern Performance Auto Machine is a full service auto machine shop now located in Dothan, Alabama. Our in house services include line boring, line honing, cylinder boring, cylinder honing, all cylinder head work, crankshaft balancing, crankshaft grinding, flywheel grinding, brake and rotor turning, rod rebuilding, surfacing heads, decking, blocks and complete engine assembly.
